A MONTH OF TRADITIONS AND TOGETHERNESS

Collaboration with Boulangerie St-Méthode

In December, traditions take on their full meaning. The holiday season is a special time when intergenerational traditions meet intercultural exchanges, giving rise to culinary rituals that we adopt, reinvent, and make our own. These moments of sharing go far beyond meal preparation, they create bonds, spark stories to be told, and help carry forward gestures passed down through generations. Year after year, these exchanges enrich our celebrations, turning each meal into a warm experience where togetherness matters just as much as indulgence.
Among the traditions I’ve adopted, the one dearest to me is the Boxing Day brunch, passed down from my mother. The night before, I prepare a strata made with cubes of bread, eggs, milk, and grilled vegetables, to which I add leftover cheese or sometimes a touch of prosciutto. In the morning, all that’s left to do is pop it in the oven while I prepare the orange supremes salad with cinnamon and pomegranate arils, golden French toast with whipped cottage cheese, and chia fruit spread. Served with a chai latte tea, this convivial meal keeps the festive magic alive and brings young and old together around the table.
Bread, ever-present during these occasions, plays a much more important role than we may realise. It is both a symbol and a key player in our traditions: it brings people together, accompanies our meals, and nourishes both body and soul. A true food of togetherness, it embodies the spirit of the holidays. The Grand-Mère and Grand-Père breads from the La Récolte range, inspired by time-honoured methods and ancient grains, remind us that every slice can carry memories and know-how to be passed on to the next generation. These are the perfect breads for festive meals.
Eating well during the holidays has never meant deprivation. It’s about celebrating what is real, simple, and nourishing. December meals are a time to come together, to share, and to reconnect, but also to fully savour the food we place on our plates. The breads in the La Récolte range, whether Le Noble, Le Royal, Grand-Mère, or Grand-Père, embody this philosophy. Each carries the values of sharing, authenticity, and simplicity that we hope to pass on to our loved ones, while bringing our culinary traditions to life.
The true meaning of holiday traditions lies in these moments of gathering. Bread then becomes much more than food: it is the thread that links our memories, a symbol of transmission, and an essential part of the moments we share. Often, all it takes is a carefully chosen loaf or a golden slice to keep those traditions alive, enriching our holidays, year after year.
Wishing you joyful celebrations! Isabelle
